The Team was warmly welcomed by the Barangay officials as well as the residents. Thus, we are enthusiastic and gladly looking forward to bringing health services to the people of Boniao.

Barangay Boniao

Barangay Boniao was formerly a barrio of the municipality of Dumingag before being organized into an independent barangay of Mahayag in 1960. Boniao has its own name rooted from the Subanens Bon and Niao who fought against the Maranaos who, at the time, kidnapped Subanen children to work as slaves in Lanao del Norte.

It is bounded by Barangay Paraiso on the north, Sta. Cruz on the south, Barangay Manguiles on the west, and Barangay Kaangayan on the east. It has a total land area of 578.03 hectares with a flat area of 80 % and has gently sloping of 20%.

Boniao is divided into 7 puroks, conveniently designated to specific leaders for purposes of easy information dissemination.
